SINGAPORE – The Ministry of Health (MINSA) confirmed 27 new cases of COVID-19 as of Tuesday (September 29), bringing Singapore’s total case count to 57,742.

Among the nine imported cases, one from Singapore and five cases that are permanent residents returned to Singapore from Indonesia on September 18 and from India between September 16 and 18, respectively.

The remaining case is a dependent’s pass holder who arrived from India on September 17.

All of them had been placed on the 14-day stay-at-home notice upon arrival here and were assessed while serving their notice at dedicated facilities, the Health Ministry said.

Among the 17 cases residing in dormitories, eight had previously been identified as previous case contacts and were evaluated during quarantine, the Health Ministry said.

The remaining nine cases were detected through surveillance tests, such as routine tests with biweekly lists of workers living in dormitories.

Of Singapore’s COVID-19 count, 54,427, or 94.3 percent, are foreign workers living in dormitories.

99% of all cases have recovered.

With 73 more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Tuesday, 57,466 cases, or 99.5 percent of the total, have fully recovered from the infection.

Most of the 32 hospitalized cases are stable or improving, while none are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

A total of 217 patients with mild symptoms or who are clinically well but still test positive are isolated and cared for in community facilities.
