Adecco Employment Agency Named SGUnited’s First Job Placement & Skills Partner

SINGAPORE: The Adecco Personnel employment agency has been designated to help local job seekers secure opportunities under the SGUnited Jobs and Skills Package, said the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and Workforce Singapore (WSG) on Monday (March 22).

Adecco is SGUnited’s first job and skills placement partner, and the appointment will be for one year, MOM and WSG said in a press release.

“With this appointment, local job seekers requiring more specialized assistance with their job search will now have an additional avenue to access professional job search services and opportunities, tailored to their skills and aspirations,” the statement said.

Under the placement partners initiative, selected employment agencies that “have demonstrated the ability to hire fairly” will be appointed to help local job seekers secure opportunities under SGUnited’s Jobs and Skills Package, MOM and WSG.

This complements the government’s existing job search efforts and increases overall job placement capacity, they said.

Placement partners will receive fees for helping mature job seekers, the long-term unemployed seeking employment, or people with disabilities to find skilled jobs, traineeships, and links.

They are expected to put “specific measures” in place to help these job seekers to do so.

Switzerland-based Adecco has more than 64 years of global experience in job facilitation, MOM and WSG said.

Eligible job applicants can approach Adecco online.

“We empathize with the anxieties that job seekers face during this difficult time, even more so with vulnerable groups,” said WSG Executive Director Mr. Tan Choon Shian.

“To expand our job search capabilities, we recognize that employment agencies are key job market intermediaries with specialized job search experience that will help bridge the gap between employers and job seekers.

“We certainly hope that job seekers will make full use of these services to facilitate and shorten the duration of their job search.”

SGUnited’s Jobs and Skills Package received an additional S $ 5.4 billion boost in the 2021 Budget to support the hiring of 200,000 locals and provide up to 35,000 internship and training opportunities this year.

The support package was first launched in May last year to help Singapore workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nearly 76,000 people have been placed in jobs, internships, adjuncts and skills training opportunities as of the end of December last year, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat said in his 2021 budget speech.
