In an attempt to reach the homeless, activist Gilbert Goh and a team of volunteers took to the streets of Bugis and Lavender on Saturday night (September 5) to deliver blankets and essentials to those who slept in. the weather.

By sharing her outreach efforts on her Facebook page, Goh highlighted some of the disadvantaged people the group encountered.

One man, described as “probably the most pitiful homeless person we’ve come across so far” had been in the same place for at least two months, Goh shared.

“I would put cardboard around him as if he wanted to make a personal space for himself, even though he sleeps only in an area of ​​10 by 10 meters. He is the only homeless person who does this in all my many encounters. [sic] so far with displaced people. “

“We are happy to pass you a blanket towel and some cookies to remind you that there are people who still care in this dark and cold world,” he said. “Do something nice for Singapore.”

Another slept on the floor without even a piece of cardboard to insulate him.

The sight of the man braving the rainy weather and cold winds broke their hearts, Goh wrote.

Goh, the founder and president of Transitioning.org, an unemployment counseling service, was also part of the Peoples Voice (PV) team that challenged Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC at GE2020.
