When the pool in his condo was closed as part of the circuit breaker measures, a man found a way to time a few laps.
After all, when there is a will, there is a way. Even if that means spending $ 30,000 on renting your own pool.
A British expat initially planned to rent an entire bungalow on Ocean Drive, Sentosa Cove, which is near his home at Cape Royal Condominium.
Except, shelling out $ 30,000 a month because it turned out to be too much for him, according to Edgeprop Singapore.
When asked by real estate agent Lester Chen why he wanted to rent the bungalow in the first place, the unidentified man simply replied that the pool on his property was closed due to the circuit breaker.
Since the expat specifically wanted a private pool for him and his two children to exercise, Chen suggested renting just the pool and garden.
“I spoke to the owner and we agreed to rent the pool and garden on two terms,” Chen told Bloomberg. “First, it will only be a three-month short-term lease. And if someone else wanted to rent the bungalow in its entirety, we can terminate the agreement.”
The tenant agreed to a price of $ 10,000 per month and the deal closed in two days.
This is also the first time that Chen has rented only the comforts of home.
According to the real estate agent, he has received many inquiries in hopes of renting bungalows in Sentosa Cove for his facilities.
However, negotiations are still ongoing in most cases because there is a large price gap between what landlords and tenants are asking for, Chen said.
As part of Singapore’s Covid-19 regulations, condo facilities have been closed to prevent people from mixing. Just last week, residents of four condos were fined for non-compliance after using the gym and pool.
