Mo Salah is underrated? The transfer claim exposes the biggest myth
Despite all his outstanding feats since signing with Liverpool almost three years ago, is Mohamed Salah undervalued? That’s the question Liverpool lead writer Ian Doyle asks in the ECHO.
Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa highlighted Salah’s goal record at Anfield on Twitter on Saturday night, including: “Since joining Liverpool FC in 2017, M. Salah has missed zero gold boots.” . Issa was responding to a report that Liverpool could improve if they moved out of Salah.
The test helps highlight both how brilliant Salah has been and how his accomplishments often go unnoticed, especially for those outside the Merseyside bubble.
After his attack on Bournemouth in March, Salah now has more than 20 goals in three successive seasons. The last Liverpool player to do that is Michael Owen. In 144 appearances in all competitions, he has scored 91 times with 37 assists. He already ranks third overall in European goals for the club alongside Ian Rush.
With such an impressive production to his credit, all the while despite playing on the right flank, could it be, then, that Salah is overlooked amidst these truly amazing feats?

“I haven’t had a player contact me wondering why they haven’t put them on the team!” He told the ECHO. “The only thing I keep in mind is that I have to put Stevie (Gerrard), although it is not too difficult to do it because he was so good anyway and nobody can question him.”
