News: The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

The first screenshots of Lord of the Rings: Gollum, Daedelic’s next stealthy adventure game, have appeared.

Scheduled for release on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2021, we were told this Gollum would not be based on Peter Jackson’s imagination of the character. However, the screenshots, which have appeared in Gamestar, show that it is not seen that different after all:

There’s a bit more cartoon quality on the screens than we’ve seen in Monolith’s Middle-earth games in recent years. Most of the screenshots show the darkest region of Mordor, but lush New Zealand green can also be seen (albeit with some giant spiders lurking on the back of the frame).

Looking at the game itself, we see what appears to be the stealth action gameplay promised to us, as well as what appears to be adventure-game-style decision-making based on Gollum’s dual personality.

This game is entirely based on Tolkien’s books instead of the movies. It’s not the only adaptation in progress, with the Amazon prequel television series on the way for at least two seasons.
