A member of the Singapore Progress Party was kicked out by the party last night after it was determined that the member produced and distributed an unfounded and defamatory video.

The member has been identified as Daniel Teo Weilong, 36, who admitted to the party chief, Dr. Tan Cheng Bock, that he had produced the video.

The video, which was broadcast to the mainstream media and later published by fathership.co, stated that the party has been infiltrated by foreign representatives and named ten people associated or associated with the party along with two other non-party members. .

According to the message sent by Dr. Tan that he sent to party members on Friday night and seen by TOC, Teo has confessed to him that he had to commit the crime against the party and some of its members. He also noted that the case is now under police investigation.

Dr. Tan noted that although Teo had offered to resign from the party, the Central Executive Committee unanimously decided to expel him with immediate effect.

He noted that the party has taken decisive steps in this regard to avoid any rumors or speculation that may be detrimental to the party’s reputation. Noting that while the party values its members, it also expects its members to safeguard the party’s interests.

“Any action that damages the credibility of the party cannot and will not be tolerated,” wrote Dr. Tan.

This is the second incident where the party had to expel its member. He had previously expelled Jan Chan, who previously was with the National Solidarity Party (NSP) from 2014 to 2019 after he published an image from the Bible and the Koran with the attached title, “To use during the shortage of toilet paper” , on Facebook page of the atheistic society NUS, which he directed. The offensive post went viral and prompted police to investigate the matter.
