SINGAPORE – The Ministry of Health (MINSA) confirmed 12 new cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore as of noon on Sunday (March 21), bringing the country’s total case count to 60,196.

All new cases are imported and have been placed on Stay-Home Notice since their arrival in the country, the Health Ministry said in a press release. There are no new cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection.

Of the cases, 10 are asymptomatic and two are symptomatic, one is a Singaporean who returned from India; one is the holder of a dependent pass that arrived from Nepal; two are holders of long-term visit passes who arrived from India; one is the holder of a work pass that came from Nepal; three are work permit holders who came from India, Indonesia and the Philippines, all of whom are foreign domestic workers; and four are special pass holders who are seafarers.

The latter group arrived from Indonesia on a ship and underwent tests on board without disembarking.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from two cases in the previous week to none in the last week. The number of unrelated cases in the community has also decreased from two cases in the previous week to none in the last week.

99% of all cases have recovered, none in the ICU

With 16 more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Sunday, 60,038 cases, or 99.7 percent of the total, have fully recovered from the infection.

Most of the 18 hospitalized cases are stable or improving. None of them are in the intensive care unit.

A total of 110 patients, with mild symptoms or clinically well, but still test positive, are isolated and cared for in community facilities.

In addition to the 30 patients who died from complications of COVID-19, another 15 who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four whose deaths were attributed to disease. coronary.

Among the 91 confirmed cases reported between March 15 and 21, 34 cases were serological test positive, 36 were negative and 21 serological test results are pending.
