There is likely a new deal for the Manchester United defender that proves Mourinho was wrong

Manchester United are reportedly preparing to hold contract talks with defender Luke Shaw after his stellar form with the club this season.

ShawThe 25-year-old has made 23 starts among 25 Premier League appearances. The left-back has appeared in 34 games in total and scored a goal for the Red Devils.

Gareth Southgate has taken note and the former Southampton man has been called up to England’s squad for the next World Cup qualifying matches.

He will look forward to participating when the Three Lions take on San Marino, Albania and Poland. The Kingston upon Thames-born star has eight named matches so far, but none since 2018.

He moved to Old Trafford from the Saints in 2014 but has sometimes struggled to justify the £ 34 million transfer fee. The defender has enjoyed times when he has looked close to his prime, but injuries have stunted his progress.

José Mourinho’s stage at the head of the club was his worst moment. The Portuguese strategist was particularly tough on the youngster, publicly criticizing his physical condition and form.

But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems to have found a way to bring out the best in Shaw. You have been outstanding in recent weeks and can be rewarded for your efforts, based on Mirror.

He still has two years left on his current contract to work at the Theater of Dreams. But it seems that United’s hierarchy wants to bind him for an even longer period.

United will return to action on Sunday when they face Leicester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals. They also advance to the knockout stages of the Europa League and face Granada for a spot in the semi-finals.

Good competition for Shaw

While a prolonged period without injury and the positivity of Solskjaer have clearly helped Shaw’s rebirth, has also thanked Alex tal.

The 28-year-old Telles arrived last October as a full-back substitute but has spent most of his time on the bench. And Shaw admitted earlier this year that both have played a role.

“I feel great, I give the credit to Ole for believing in me and pushing me,” he told MUTV. “Alex too, we have a great relationship, he pushes me every day in training and we really get along. It’s good to have that competition, we push each other to get the best of ourselves.

“It’s a positive way for both of us to see it.”
