Paul Scholes has criticized Bruno Fernandes for not having an impact on Manchester United’s game at Chelsea, but says he was not the biggest problem after thinking about their 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge.
The stalemate in west London means United have been blank in their last six meetings with the ‘big six’. Fernandes, for his part, struggled to find his best form. The match, however, was not without controversy after they were denied a clear sanction following a VAR review.

While United failed to create too many meaningful opportunities at Chelsea, Scholes it recognizes that its middle halves must bear the blame.
He claims that Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof get too much protection from Fred and Scott McTominay. In fact, he thinks Fred and Scott McTominay should be an affective game in another way.
“A lot of the problems that I see are the two center halves and the goalkeeper, well, not so much the goalkeeper today, but the center halves need protection,” Scholes said. Premier League Productions.
“Which means you have to have both of your midfielders held by them at all times and that takes all of your attacking ability.
“They don’t go up onto the field, they can’t keep the ball in the last third of the field because they can’t sustain the attacks because they are too deep.
“And this is a recurring one of them now that it continues. If they want to get to the next level, they have to be more courageous, they have to be more courageous in the center of the field ”.
Scholes feels that Maguire and Lindelof would have been able to deal with Olivier Giroud, Mason Mount, and Hakim Ziyech on their own.
“The two center-backs, let them, let them defend,” said the former United midfielder.

Bruno Fernandes does not escape criticism
Scholes was also disappointed by the performance of the Portuguese superstar Fernandes. Normally so dependable, Fernandes had a very uneventful afternoon by his standards and Scholes says he needs to get more done in these kinds of games.
“They have to change it, the quality has to be better,” Scholes said.
“The great players have to step up.

“I do not remember [Chelsea keeper Eduoard] Mendy, apart from a couple of times, was brought into the game. So the quality is disappointing. They have to do better against these big clubs. “
