Klopp highlights the turning point; gives verdict on Alisson, Kabak after defeat ‘hard to accept’

Jurgen Klopp lamented his team’s shocking reaction to the controversial tying goal when Leicester inflicted more pain on the Liverpool manager in his 300th game for the club.

Liverpool’s losing streak in the Premier League is now three after they gave up a 1-0 lead at King Power Stadium to lose 3-1.

Alisson suffered another nightmare when Liverpool’s title defense was left hanging by a thread after a late collapse.

The goalkeeper gifted Jamie Vardy with a game-changing goal as the Foxes scored three times in the dramatic final 14 minutes.

Alisson, fresh off two big mistakes against Manchester City, helped Liverpool’s late capitulation when he arrived and missed a long pass from Youri Tielemans and Vardy hit the ball.

James Maddison had already leveled off before Harvey Barnes attacked to compound the misery of the visitors.

“We conceded a goal, a really difficult one to take, it was a turning point in the VAR game. I’ve seen it and when they stop the situation it seems like a clear offside, that’s all.

“The second goal is a misunderstanding, we said they had to get used to it and they were good for 75 minutes, it was a really good game. On the pitch we were the clearly dominant side. We had chances and then we conceded two goals.

“We were too open at the time and that’s not right. Alisson had a super game and then at that point he came out, I didn’t hear him scream.

“The turning point was the first goal, we changed too much with one goal, that’s the criticism for us. We don’t react well. “

Maddison said BT sport: “We know that when we play against Liverpool it will be difficult because they can do both parts of the game very well. It’s a matter of staying in the game. We are a first class team and we know we will have opportunities.

“We were solid at all times. The more they start looking for it, the more space opens up for [Harvey] Barnes on the counter, so I think we used it brilliantly.

“I don’t know what was going through my head and I think Anthony Taylor was lost too. They told him this and that, it’s a penalty, a free kick. Daniel [Amartey] he claimed the touch and moved it, but it turned out to be onside. That was a great moment to start the game.

Maddison: We weren’t at our best.

“Jamie Vardy looks for little opportunities. It was a confusion between the goalkeeper and the center midfielder. It’s just one of those things. You cannot investigate too much. Alisson is having a hard time right now, but he is a great goalkeeper and I am sure he will return. I’m happy that we could jump on that mistake.

“There are three more points missing at Liverpool. We take it game by game. We have a lot of quality in the squad. By the way, we have a lot of injuries.

“You don’t really talk about it because we are not the ‘big six’, but we are using the team brilliantly. We are up there and not by chance. We will continue working and getting results against great teams like Liverpool. It’s about taking advantage of the great moments.

“We weren’t at our best to be honest, but I’ll take advantage of those great moments.”
