SINGAPORE – A long-term visitation pass holder reported as an unrelated community case on Wednesday (February 3) has been reclassified as an imported case, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said Thursday night.

A serological test of the woman was positive, indicating a probable past infection, he added.

“Given his HIV status and recent travel history to India between November 30 and January 6, we have reclassified this case as imported,” the Health Ministry said.

The 35-year-old woman tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, two weeks after completing her stay-at-home notice (SHN).

The Health Ministry reported 22 imported cases on Thursday, bringing Singapore’s total to 59,624.

The cases included three Singaporeans and two permanent residents who returned from India, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines.

Two dependent pass holders arrived from Germany and Japan, and four work pass holders from Indonesia, Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates.

Another eight were work permit holders who came from countries such as Bangladesh and Indonesia.

There were also three short-term visit pass holders from Indonesia.

All of the cases tested positive while in SHN or in isolation after arriving in Singapore, the Health Ministry said.

The Health Ministry also added Golden Village Yishun, Northpoint City, and Pizza Hut in Sun Plaza to the list of places visited by Covid-19 patients while they were still infectious.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community increased from one case in the previous week to three cases in the previous week. The number of unrelated cases in the community increased from none in the previous week to two cases in the last week.

Among the 199 confirmed cases reported between January 29 and Thursday, 112 had positive serological tests, indicating past infection, while 35 were negative. The results of serological tests for another 52 are pending.

With 28 cases discharged on Thursday, 59,333 patients have fully recovered from the disease.

A total of 38 patients remain in the hospital, none in intensive care, while 209 recover in community facilities.

Singapore has had 29 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.
