REUTERS: Alphabet Inc’s Google said Monday that it will not make contributions from its political action committee this election cycle to any member of Congress who has voted against certifying the results of the presidential election.

Earlier this month, following the violent assault on the US Capitol, the tech giant had halted all political contributions to reevaluate its political contribution policies.

“Following that review, the NetPAC board decided that it will not make any contributions this cycle to any member of Congress who voted against the certification of the election results,” a Google representative said in a statement.

Hundreds of supporters of former President Donald Trump stormed the halls of Congress on January 6 in an attempt to reverse their electoral defeat, fighting police in the halls and delaying the certification of President Joe Biden’s victory for hours.

In the aftermath of the incident, Republicans in Congress fought backwards from several corporate companies that stopped campaign donations and said they were reviewing their policies.

Amazon.com Inc, AT&T Inc, Comcast Corp, Verizon Communications Inc are among the many large companies that have threatened to limit fundraising resources for Republicans.

AT&T and Comcast, for example, are among the largest corporate donors in Washington.
