URK, The Netherlands: Youth in riots protesting on the first night of the Dutch curfew set a COVID-19 testing facility on fire and launched fireworks at police in a Dutch fishing village.

Police said Sunday they fined more than 3,600 people across the country for violating the curfew that lasted from 9 p.m. local time Saturday to 4.30 a.m. Sunday and arrested 25 people for violating the curfew. or by violence.

A video from the village of Urk, 80 kilometers northeast of Amsterdam, showed young people breaking into the COVID-19 testing facility near the village port before it caught fire on Saturday night.

Police and the municipality issued a statement on Sunday expressing their anger at the riots, “from the firing of fireworks and stones to the destruction of police cars and the burning of the test site as a deep point.”
