KUALA LUMPUR – A three-month public inspection of a rail project connecting Singapore to Johor has started in Malaysia, two months after construction began in Johor.

Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp), which will operate the Rapid Transit System Link (RTS Link) Bukit Chagar station in Johor Baru, said on Friday (January 15) that details of the project will be released for public inspection from 15 January January to April. 15, the Bernama news agency reported.

“When conducting public inspection, information about the RTS Link project, including alignment plans and profiles, station site context plans, trains, and details on potential land acquisitions for the project, they will prepare for public scrutiny, “said MRT Corp.

“Comments or objections must be made between January 15 and April 15, 2021 using the Online Public Objection Form available on the MRT Corp website along with the public inspection materials,” it added.

The public inspection is mandated under the Public Land Transportation Act 2010. It will take place virtually for now due to new blockades imposed from Wednesday to January 26 in several states and federal territories, including Johor and Kuala Lumpur.

The 4 km RTS link, 2.7 km of the route in Malaysia and 1.3 km in Singapore, will link Bukit Chagar Station with Woodlands North MRT Station in Singapore. It is expected to be completed in 2026.
