O-Level results: 85.4% score at least 5 approved, above the previous year

SINGAPORE: Approximately 85.4 percent of students scored at least five passes on the 2020 GCE O-Level exams, just above the previous year’s record of 85.2 percent.

Of the 23,688 candidates who sat for exams last year, 20,220 earned five or more Level O passes, based on results released by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) on Monday. (January 11).

The students collected their results on Monday. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, arrangements were made for candidates from schools to receive their results in classrooms, rather than meeting as a cohort like previous years.

The proportion of students who passed at least three subjects increased to 96.8 percent, up from 96.5 percent in 2019, while the proportion of students who passed at least one subject remained the same at 99.9 percent. .

Students who want to apply to junior universities, Millennia Institute, polytechnics and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) can do so through the Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) using the results of their exams.

The JAE-Internet system will be open to students from 3 p.m. Monday to 4 p.m. January 15, for students to submit their course options, the MOE and SEAB said in a joint press release.

Candidates for eligible schools on Monday would have received a form with the results of their O-Level exams, the courses they are eligible to apply for under the JAE and their personal password to access the Internet system.

Private candidates will receive the form by mail sent to the address previously provided to SEAB, and there will be no online copies of the form.
