The Multi-Ministerial Task Force (MTF) introduced the new requirement to minimize the risk that an imported Covid-19 case will transmit the virus to bedrooms, the MOM said.
Currently, the 14-day SHN exit test and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) reduce this risk to “very low levels.”
“However, as MOM has started to approve the entry of a greater number of foreign workers into Singapore, the MTF considers it prudent to further reduce the risk that a positive case of Covid-19 will not enter the dormitories and start a new one. group, “said MOM.
Workers will be able to move into their bedrooms only after completing the new testing regimen.
“During the seven days at the designated facility, newly arrived foreign workers will undergo additional swab testing and will still be able to go to work,” he said.
Those who test positive for Covid-19 will be isolated and transferred to a hospital or community care center. Their close contacts will also be quarantined and isolated.
