SINGAPORE: A teenager on probation on multiple charges of sexual abuse and insulting a woman’s modesty repeated by unbuttoning his pants at a Popular bookstore and sexually abusing a woman in line at the cashier.

The 18-year-old, who cannot be identified because he was under 18 at the time of the crime, pleaded guilty on Monday (January 4) to one count of using criminal force against a 22-year-old woman to insult his modesty. .

The court heard that the victim was queuing at the cash desk at the bookstore at The Clementi Mall on the night of November 29, 2019, when he felt something pressing against his butt.

Seconds later, he felt it again and turned to see the defendant with his private parts exposed.

She made a police report and the defendant, who was 17 at the time, admitted that he had intentionally lined up behind the victim to abuse her in such a way.

He committed the crime while on supervised probation, the prosecutor said. She had been given 21 months of probation in June 2018 on two counts of sexual abuse, and other charges of insulting a woman’s modesty were taken into consideration.

The prosecutor requested a report on the suitability of the reformer training, saying the teenager had acted blatantly.

He had also violated his probation for crimes of a similar nature.

Attorney Muhd ​​Shafiuddin Ong requested a parole suitability report, saying his client is sorry and regrets his actions. He recently completed an ITE National Certificate course and intends to enlist for national service in February.

District Judge May Mesenas said she would ask for a parole suitability report, but told the defense attorney that she would have to justify why parole should be considered.

“In the meantime, he will be placed on remand for the purposes of RTC’s suitability report and what he has done will be given serious thought,” he told the defendant.

The parties will return next month for sentencing.
