SINGAPORE – Singaporeans will not be able to travel to Indonesia under the Singapore-Indonesia Green Lane / Travel Corridor Reciprocal Agreement, following Indonesia’s temporary ban on entry for all foreign nationals, amid concerns over the coronavirus strain over infectious disease identified in the United Kingdom.

This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on Friday (January 1), in response to media inquiries.

On December 28, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi announced the ban, which will run from January 1-14.

“The Indonesian government has notified MFA that this ban would also apply to foreigners traveling to Indonesia under all of Indonesia’s travel corridor agreements with other countries,” MFA said.

Given the reciprocal nature of the green lane arrangement, travelers from Indonesia will also not be allowed to enter Singapore during the ban period, MFA added.

But travelers who have already received approval to enter Singapore via the reciprocal green lane can continue.

Indonesia’s foreign minister had also said on December 28 that Indonesian nationals returning from abroad could still enter, but must follow rigorous procedures, including conducting a reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction test upon arrival. , and be quarantined for five days at designated hotels. even if they test negative.

The costs of testing and quarantine will be covered by the Indonesian government for returning citizens.

The green lane between Singapore and Indonesia was announced on October 12 last year to allow cross-border travel for essential business and official purposes. Applications began on October 26.
