As people strolled down the catwalk in front of a store in Little India on Tuesday night (December 29), they did not see a black BMW hurtling towards them.
The seven-seater car climbed onto the gangway, collided with two pedestrians and knocked them over. A light pole prevented the vehicle from doing further damage.
Subsequently, a 34-year-old male driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
CCTV footage of the store hit social media, showing what happened during the accident.
In the video, a black BMW is seen suddenly colliding with two pedestrians who were using the walkway.
The pedestrian in beige pants is run over by the bumper of the car, causing him to fall to the ground.
The other pedestrian, hit by the side of the car, loses his balance and falls on a display stand outside the store. After regaining his balance, he stands up and walks away from the scene.
Bystanders gather to check on the victims and the driver is seen getting out of his car before the clip is cut.
In response to inquiries from AsiaOne, police said they were alerted to an accident involving a car and two pedestrians along Serangoon Road towards Upper Serangoon Road at 5:27 p.m.
The Singapore Civil Defense Force told AsiaOne that a 40-year-old man was subsequently transferred to Raffles Hospital. According to police, the pedestrian was conscious when they took him to hospital.
Police investigations are ongoing.
