A 29-year-old man seeking revenge after a dispute at a wedding function stabbed another man so badly that it took the victim two months to recover.

Yesterday, Irsyad Sameer Abdul Rahim admitted to committing multiple crimes, including drug-related and trafficking offenses, and to voluntarily causing harm with a dangerous weapon.

He had also fled the police several times.

In December 2017, Irsyad Sameer was approached by police officers after he had fled a roadblock earlier.

The cops parked his car in front of him to prevent him from leaving, but he sped up, hit his car, and sped off.

He also collided with another car in order to create space for him to maneuver.

In March 2018, Irsyad Sameer staged a revenge attack with three other people against another man after a dispute at a wedding function.

A few weeks after the dispute, they went to the victim’s workplace at a karaoke venue, each armed with a parang.

Three of them cut the victim repeatedly while one acted as a lookout, Assistant District Attorney Daphne Lim said.

Irsyad Sameer also cut one of the customers on the head while hitting the karaoke rooms. Both victims bled profusely and bear scars from the attack.

About a week later, police officers approached Irsyad Sameer on an empty terrace of a Housing Board floor. But he quickly got into a car, locked the door and sped off, hitting one of the policemen and sending him flying.

HOSPITAL

The officer was taken to the hospital with abrasions and tenderness on his hand.

Irsyad Sameer then abandoned the car, later found to have drugs, in Bedok South.

He was finally arrested on April 7, 2018 by officers from the Central Narcotics Office at the Hotel Victoria in Bugis.

Methamphetamine was found in his urine sample.

A corrective training suitability report has been requested and is expected to be sentenced next month.
