The electricity rate for households will fall by 3.2% next quarter, the gas rate will increase

SINGAPORE: The electricity tariff for households will fall by about 3.2 percent for the period from January to March next year, compared to the previous quarter, due to lower energy costs, SP Group said on Wednesday (30 from December).

Excluding goods and services tax (GST), the rate will decrease from 21.43 cents to 20.76 cents per kWh, or 0.67 cents, for the quarter ending March 31.

Including GST, the rate is 22.21 cents per kWh.

This means that the average monthly electricity bill for families living in four-bedroom apartments will decrease by S $ 2.39, before GST, SP Group said.

Electricity rates are reviewed quarterly according to the guidelines established by the Energy Market Authority (EMA), the electricity industry regulator. The revised rates have been approved by the authority.

GAS RATE INCREASE

In a separate press release, City Gas also announced Wednesday that the gas rate for homes will increase by 0.04 cents per kWh in the first quarter of next year.

This is due to an increase in fuel costs compared to the previous quarter.

This means that households will have to pay 17.23 cents per kWh, excluding the goods and services tax, compared to 17.19 cents currently.

Including GST, the revised rate will be 18.44 cents per kWh.

City Gas reviews gas rates based on the guidelines established by the Energy Market Authority, which has approved gas rates for the three-month period.
