SINGAPORE – A karaoke shop was ordered to suspend operations for 20 days for failing to comply with Covid-19 secure management measures on Christmas Day.
MZS Family Karaoke in the Orchard Road area was found to have allowed large groups of more than five customers into its facility, and allowed them to consume alcohol at 12.05 a.m., the Ministry of Sustainability and Environment (MSE) said Wednesday. . 30).
The karaoke stopped operating since last Friday.
The ministry added that the police are investigating 51 people for not complying with safe distancing measures.
Separately, seven more food and beverage (F&B) establishments were fined $ 1,000 each for violating safe driving measures between Dec. 18 and last Saturday.
These violations include admitting and seating groups of more than five customers, allowing groups to mingle, seating groups less than 1 meter apart, and providing games to customers despite not being an entertainment center.
In phase three of Singapore’s reopening, which began on Monday, food and beverage outlets can accept reservations for groups of up to eight people. But it is still not allowed to mix between groups, nor to serve and consume alcohol after 10:30 p.m.
The MSE said that agencies will intensify compliance checks at food and beverage outlets during the upcoming New Year’s weekend.
The ministry said there will be no fireworks in Marina Bay on New Year’s Eve, to reduce the risk of crowds gathering. Instead, fireworks will be fired from different locations in the heart of Singapore.
“Secure crowd control and management measures will be implemented at fireworks sites to ensure public safety … Safe distance ambassadors will be deployed to remind members of the public not to gather (in groups greater than eight)” said the MSE.
Under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act of 2020, first-time offenders can be fined up to $ 10,000, imprisoned for up to six months, or both.
Repeat offenders can face a fine of up to $ 20,000, imprisonment for up to 12 months, or both.
