SINGAPORE: A karaoke shop on Orchard Road was suspended from operations after 51 people were found drinking alcohol on the premises at 12:05 a.m. on Christmas Day.

Operations at MZS Family Karaoke, which is located at 21 Cuscaden Road, have been suspended for 20 days after COVID-19 safe management measures were violated, the Ministry of Sustainability and Environment (MSE) said in a statement. release on Wednesday (December 30). ).

The karaoke venue was found to have allowed for a large gathering and for patrons to consume alcohol after 10.30pm, MSE said.

For these violations, MZS Family Karaoke was ordered to close from December 25 to January 13, MSE said.

The Singapore Police and the Singapore Tourism Board have begun investigations into the violations at the karaoke venue, according to the statement.

The police are also investigating 51 people on suspicion of non-compliance with safe distancing measures.

Singapore entered Phase 3 of its reopening on Monday. Social gatherings of up to eight people are now allowed in public, compared to the previous five today.

Under COVID-19 measures, intermixing between groups is prohibited and alcohol should not be served or consumed in the F&B facilities after 10:30 p.m.

FINES ISSUED TO A&B OUTPUTS

Seven other food and beverage (F&B) establishments were also fined S $ 1,000 each for violating safe distancing measures between December 18 and 26.

These violations included admitting and seating groups of more than five, allowing groups to mingle, seating groups of customers less than 1 meter apart, and providing games to customers despite not being an entertainment center.

Food and beverage outlets are: Six Gray Bar on Jiak Chuan Road in Chinatown, Indian Xpress Bar & Restaurant on Campbell Lane, ABC Nasi Kandar on Desker Road, CHICHI on Amoy Street, Lawry’s The Prime Rib Singapore and Coffeesmith on Orchard Road, as well as Manpei in Central Mall.

NO FIREWORKS FOR YEARS NIGHT

To reduce the risk of crowds gathering in Marina Bay on New Year’s Eve, there will be no fireworks display on the premises.

Instead, the fireworks will be fired from different locations in the heart of Singapore, bringing the experience of the countdown closer to Singaporeans at home.

“We urge Singaporeans to enjoy heart fireworks, Marina Bay Shine a Light exhibit and Share the Moment light projections online and on Mediacorp Channel 5 in the comfort of their homes,” he said. MSE.

Secure crowd management and control measures will be implemented at fireworks sites to ensure public safety, and safe distance ambassadors will be deployed to remind members of the public not to gather at respective sites, the ministry said.

“We urge Singaporeans to practice social responsibility and cooperate with our officials to ensure the continued safety and well-being of the community,” added MSE.
