SINGAPORE – Sixty-seven people between the ages of 27 and 85 were arrested for their alleged participation in vicious activities, gambling, and for being alleged members of illegal companies, among other crimes.

The 46 men and 21 women were seized at various locations, including Clarke Quay, Orchard Road and Boat Quay, police said on Tuesday (December 29).

The crime operation lasted between December 15 and 26.

During this period, compliance checks were also carried out at public entertainment establishments and massage establishments.

Five massage establishments were found to be operating without a valid license, while authorities discovered an unlicensed public entertainment establishment in a unit of the factory.

Thirty-six customers between the ages of seven and 66 had a private celebration at the factory. All of them will be investigated for failure to comply with the safe distancing measures.

Two organizers, aged 50 and 58 respectively, are also under investigation for offering public entertainment without a valid license.

“The police will continue to suppress criminal activities during the festive period at the end of the year. Those who find themselves participating in such activities will be treated in accordance with the law,” authorities warned.
