SINGAPORE – People will be able to spend more time in public libraries starting Monday (January 4), as Singapore enters phase three of its reopening.
On weekdays, there will be no limit on how long patrons can stay in the National Library, Public Libraries, National Archives of Singapore and the Old Ford Factory during hours of operation.
Time limits will continue to apply for weekend visits.
On Saturdays and Sundays, patrons can visit the National Library, regional libraries in Jurong, Tampines and Woodlands, as well as the National Archives of Singapore for up to three hours. For all other public libraries, visits are limited to two hours. Users are encouraged to reserve their preferred time slots online.
The NLB said it will also gradually resume its public programs, with the exception of guided tours. More information can be found on the NLB GoLibrary site.
The Asian Film Archive public screenings at the Oldham Theater will also have an increased capacity of 66 people, up from 50, for both the theater and the atrium. It will continue to offer digital programs.
“To ensure the safety of our customers, safe distancing measures, capacity controls, and frequent disinfection of high-touch points will continue to be implemented at all of our facilities. Customers visiting our facilities must wear their masks at all times and comply with the capacity limit at our facilities, “said NLB.
“With the resumption of the programs, we will also perform additional cleaning, sanitation and ventilation of the program areas between sessions.”
Singapore entered phase three of its reopening on Monday (December 28), when the group size allowed for social gatherings increased from five to eight. Capacity limits have also been increased at attractions, shopping malls and places of worship.
