Seoul: Actors and actresses may be required to make changes to their bodies to suit their roles.
One of them has been Sweet Home’s Lee Si Young. He had to cut body fat 8 percent for his role.
The actress conducted an online video interview on Wednesday (December 23) where she shared the behind-the-scenes stories in response to the growing popularity of the Netflix original series.
Directed by Lee Eung Bok, whose portfolio includes Mr Sunshine, Goblin, and Descendants Of The Sun, Sweet Home is about the strange and shocking events in an apartment complex.

Actor Song Kang is Cha Hyun Soo, a lonely high school student who tries to survive the monsters while the residents of the apartment fight them. Lee Si Young plays Seo Yi Kyung, a firefighter from a task force unit who performs challenging action scenes in the drama. He lost weight to only 8% body fat for his role. Lee Si Young also attended action school and prepared for six months before filming.
The actress said: “Nobody told me how much body fat to lose, but my trainer said I have to have 8 to 9% body fat for my muscles to show, so I started training with that goal. I had to gain weight and ate a lot to the point where I couldn’t eat more. Then I adjusted my diet for filming. “
She added: “I started to restrict my diet very strictly for two weeks. It was very difficult during those two weeks. “
She also said, “Since I’m not young anymore, I want to try as many action scenes as possible. I am very grateful to have had this opportunity and I really want to show my fans my improvement if they are given another opportunity for an action movie. “
Sweet Home premiered worldwide on Netflix on December 18. The drama series ranked in the top 10 in 42 countries, reaching eighth place in the United States.
