SINGAPORE – Religious organizations will be able to conduct congregational services and other worship services for up to 250 people in places of worship from Monday (December 28) onward, the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) said in a notice about Religious activities like Singapore enter phase three.
Today, religious organizations can hold congregational and other worship services for up to 100 people.
Starting Monday, live performance elements will be allowed for congregational and other worship services, as well as religious rites.

Religious organizations should prepare to accept registrations using the TraceTogether app or token, MCCY said.
For congregational services, the faithful must be separated into zones each with a maximum of 50 people.
The zones must be completely separated from each other by a wall-to-wall partition of at least 1.8 m high, or a space of at least 3 m that is delimited by continuous physical barriers, such as ropes.
Entry and exit times should also be staggered so that worshipers from different areas do not mix with each other, MCCY said.
“Religious organizations must also take reasonable steps to ensure that the faithful do not cross the physical barrier, when appropriate, or enter another area to which they are not assigned.”
He added that they should keep worship services as short as possible and that everyone present, except for children under the age of six, must wear a mask at all times.
“There should be no reception or mixing among worshipers, before, during or after each worship service,” he said.
In addition to the larger services, up to 150 additional people can participate in other permitted religious activities, such as religious classes and rites, on the premises at the same time. This is an increase from the current limit of 100 people.
These meetings should not exceed 50 people per group and should have safe handling measures in place.
“Religious organizations should consider reducing other concurrent activities when conducting congregational and other worship services, so that there are fewer total numbers of people in the facility at the same time, which will help minimize the risk of let large groups form “. MCCY said.
For the live performance elements, up to 10 people involved in conducting the worship service can remove the masks at a time, of which up to five people can remove the masks to sing.
They should only do so when they need to carry out their duties, and there should be a distance of at least 3m between the people involved in the elements of the live performance and the faithful.
In addition to those who are allowed to remove their masks to sing, other worshipers are not allowed to sing during the worship service.
Religious rites may also include elements of live performance, with safe handling measures in place.
The faithful should not share common items such as holy books, offering baskets and prayer mats, as this increases the risk of transmission of Covid-19, MCCY said.
“Religious organizations are encouraged to continue to support the religious needs of their communities through remote means, such as recording and broadcasting of religious services and prayers,” MCCY said.
