Singapore – 2020 has been a year like no other. While the COVID-19 pandemic has captured most of the world’s attention, it is not the only thing that has gone viral this year (sorry for the pun!). We have created a list of content that has swept social networks, obtaining millions of visits, likes and shares.
It comes as no surprise that the social media application for video sharing Tik Tok tops the list of the most popular apps of 2020. For those who don’t know, TikTok is an app that allows users to share short video clips of absolutely anything, set to the song of their choice (there are a multitude of songs to use as background audio on TikTok). . Users can interact with each other, comment on videos, and join community “challenges” on the platform.
TikTok is arguably the app that defied the pandemic, keeping millions of people busy, entertained, and (relatively) sane during the toughest parts of the lockdown, forging connections despite global isolation. It is also the platform for most of the viral content of 2020.
TikTok Videos
TikTok videos of all kinds have flooded the internet all year long, but the most viral? With a staggering 530+ million views (yes, you read that right), is this video of late-night TikTok sensation Bella Poarch:
@bellapoarch For him? ? ? ## fyp ♬ M a la B – Millie B
The short clip shows Poarch lip syncing to Millie B’s song “M to the B” with exaggerated facial expressions and crossed eyes. Since then, the Filipino American has risen to fame as one of the most influential people on TikTok and continues to focus on lip sync videos with coordinated facial movements.

The second most viral TikTok video of 2020 is something else entirely. Apparently, skateboarding to the Fleetwood Mac song “Dreams” while drinking Ocean Spray Cran-Raspberry juice is a viral combination, because it has garnered nearly 12 million views since then. Nathan Apocada, or @ 420doggface208, changed his life when he filmed this video:

Apocada’s video launched him to stardom overnight. Thanks to his video going viral, “Dreams” (released in 1977) returned to Billboard The list of the 10 best songs in streaming and Ocean Spray Cran-Raspberry were sold out in stores around the world. Ocean Spray was so grateful for the overwhelming publicity they received that they gave Apocada a 2020 Nissan Frontier!
TikTok songs and dances
Without a doubt, the best (if you like to move and dance) of this popular application are the dance challenges that have taken the world by storm. 2020 on TikTok has been all about unleashing your inner diva, and there has been a lot of dancing. Dance challenges have become all the rage, with users showing off their moves while dancing to popular songs. The more exaggerated the movements, the more literal the interpretation, the better!
When 17-year-old Haley Sharpe created her own choreography for Doja Cat’s song “Say So”, blew up all over TikTok. His dance moves were copied across the platform and even helped Doja’s song soar to new heights of fame, both on TikTok and music charts. The music artist generously acknowledged Sharpe’s influence by inviting her to perform the dance routine in the song’s official music video, while skating on a disco rink, 70s style.

Song by artist Kesha “Cannibal” It has also turned into TikTok gold. With moves originally created by TikTok user Briana Hantsch, dancing has become a hit sensation on the video sharing app, with Kesha herself doing the dance moves alongside the super-influence Charli D’Amelio.

TikTok has not only been fun for people stuck at home; Artists around the world have the platform to share videos and their users should thank them for giving new life to their songs.
TikTok Food Trends
In addition to dance and song fashions and the popularization of random ornaments, the food appears mainly on the video-sharing platform. Who is not a foodie in their own right? TikTok introduced a new trend that really took off:viral baking.
When people were home from the pandemic, they were naturally baking and cooking a lot. But TikTok took it to new viral heights, and suddenly everyone connected with the baker of their inner home.
the banana bread The madness that took TikTok by storm can be attributed to chef and author Shereen Pavlides (@cookingwithshereen), whose video of banana bread from scratch in March was viewed by more than 24.8 million TikTokers and with “heart” by more than 4 millions.
Seeing meat falling off the bone it’s certainly a satisfying experience, and millions of people on TikTok agree. In February of this year, TikToker @bbqfreedom featured an amazing video of the most tender and delicious piece of grilled meat you’ve ever seen, and the best part? The meat falls off cleanly from a huge chunk of bone. It is decadent, addictive and fascinating; no wonder it has garnered over 43 million views. Yes, it is that good. Check it out, you can’t stop watching it and you don’t want to.

Memes
Memes, one of social media’s favorite modes of expression, have continued to live on and thrive throughout 2020, and people have become more creative, inventive, and sarcastic than ever.
the Meme “My plans – 2020” It is something that everyone can relate to, and it is precisely for that reason that it became so viral, so fast:
