Manchester United want to beat Liverpool by signing one of Ligue 1’s top stars, while Chelsea want to fund a move for a world-class attacker and have put seven players up for sale, according to transfer gossip. Christmas Eve.

RENATO SANCHES WANTED BY MAN UTD

Manchester United is shaping up to be serious competition in the race to sign Renato Sanches, according to reports.

The former Bayern Munich player has reinvigorated his career in France with a series of outstanding performances for Lille.

He has become a key member of Christophe Galtier’s squad, who currently occupy the top of French Ligue 1 on goal difference.

Reports in Italy claim, however, that Lille will allow Sanches to leave for a fee of just over £ 18 million in January. It is said that he alerted Liverpool, with reports earlier this week indicating a deal was close.

Jurgen Klopp reportedly sees Portuguese star Sanches as a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum. The Dutchman now has only six months on his contract and remains linked to Barcelona.

However the Daily star quoting Gazzetta dello Sport, claim that Manchester United is also keeping an eye on Sanches. They claim that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks like the midfielder as a possible replacement for Paul Pogba.

For such a low fee, Solskjaer is reported to see the player as a perfect successor to Pogba, who could leave Old Trafford imminently.

A third club, Inter Milan, is also interested. However, Sanches, who had a poor season with Swansea on loan in 2017/18, is set to return to the Premier League.

Liverpool, meanwhile, appears to be beating Manchester United in the pursuit of another deal in January. Thursday’s reports say a deal for a young LaLiga defender is close.
