SINGAPORE – There will be no fireworks on this year’s Marina Bay New Year’s Eve countdown, but Singaporeans can still look forward to them at 11 locations in the heart of the country to usher in 2021.

As part of the end of the year events organized by the People’s Association (PA), the fireworks will be held in HDB cities such as Bedok, Tampines, Bishan and Yew Tee and the exhibition will be streamed live on Facebook pages. electoral districts.

In a statement on Wednesday (December 23), the Palestinian Authority said that virtual programs bring the end of the year holidays to families “in a safe way”, allowing everyone to enjoy the programs in the comfort of their homes.

“As 2020 draws to a close and we approach reopening phase three, we must remain vigilant, especially during the holiday periods,” the association said.

Two of the end-of-year virtual programs, which will be organized by various electoral districts, will take place on Sunday.

Another 12 will be held on New Years Eve and the remaining two on New Years.

Highlights include Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC’s 2021 virtual countdown on December 31 at 10.30pm, featuring local artists including Sezairi, MICappella, TheLionCityBoy, and The Lorong Boys. It will be featured by Mediacorp artist Pornsak.

Residents of the Nanyang district on GRC’s west coast can look forward to a host of online events, starting at 10 p.m. on New Years Eve, including a scavenger hunt and student group performances.

Those who live in Clementi can call 2021 with a workout on Jan. 1 in the constituency’s sports-themed morning show that starts at 9 a.m. The afternoon segment, which starts at 2 p.m., features singers and bands local.

In addition to Bedok, Tampines, Bishan and Yew Tee, the other seven HDB cities with fireworks displays are: Boon Lay, Geylang, Hougang, Jurong, Nanyang District in West Coast GRC, Tiong Bahru and Woodlands.

PA did not provide specific viewpoints for viewing the fireworks, as residents are encouraged to do so from home, as the display will be broadcast live.

A spokesman for the Palestinian Authority said safe handling measures will be put in place at the fireworks sites to ensure public safety.

“We are working with the relevant authorities and will deploy safe distance ambassadors to remind residents not to gather and to ensure security at the respective sites,” he said.

Chan Cui Si, a Yew Tee resident in his 50s, said he would try to view the exhibit from his flat if possible.

“Without knowing where the focal point of the exhibit is, leaving the house can be useless,” said the housewife, adding that an open area in the neighborhood was packed during a similar event on National Day, which she did make the viewing experience unpleasant. .

Those who wish to revel in the New Year’s festivities in town can head to Marina Bay to see two light shows, one of which has been underway since early December.

Shine A Light, featuring 60 floor-mounted moving beams of light from The Promontory, runs nightly through December 31.

Another light projection titled Share The Moment will begin on December 25 and run through December 31 at The Fullerton Hotel and Merlion. The same show will begin the day after December 26 at the ArtScience Museum.

All light shows will take place at 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM every night, with extended displays on New Year’s Eve, when the last show begins at 11:45 PM.
