As the Covid-19 pandemic worsened in March, Ah Boys To Men star Maxi Lim postponed his wedding reception and wrote on Instagram that he was “the most socially responsible.”

But when he and his wife, influencer Lizy Teo, who registered their marriage in late March, finally held the reception at One Degree 15 Marina in Sentosa Cove on Sunday, some attendees reportedly sidestepped precautions by ignoring the measures. safe handling.

In videos and photos from the event posted on social media, Mr Lim’s Ah Boys To Men cast members Charlie Goh, Joshua Tan and Noah Yap, emcee Justin Misson and others, including influencer Nicole Choo and the Comedians Fakkah Fuzz and Jai Kishan can be seen acting. and play on stage without wearing masks or face shields.

Some guests at the reception were also seen intermingled and without masks during the march.

A reader who informed The New Paper yesterday said that he had filed a complaint with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) after viewing the posts.

The reader, who is in his 30s and declined to be named, said: “I had my wedding recently and I am aware of how the guidelines can put a brake on the happy occasion.

“However, like other couples who were married during this period, we know the importance of these guidelines and many of us, with constant reminders from the local provider, follow them despite all the inconveniences,” he added.

“To see a public figure blatantly ignoring such guidelines is disheartening. It is also ironic to see public figures breaking the rules when they have been advocating for the public to observe safe driving measures.”

STB’s director of hotel and industry workforce Tan Yen Nee told TNP in a statement that STB is aware of the allegations and is investigating.

Under current rules, wedding receptions cannot exceed 100 people divided into multiple zones of up to 50 people each.

Receptions with more than 20 attendees must be divided into a designated main wedding party of up to 20 people, including the bride and groom, and groups of up to five people for the remaining guests.

It is unclear which of those attending Mr. Lim’s reception were at the main wedding party.

A safety distance of at least 1m must be maintained between groups and the wedding party at all times, including taking pictures.

Live performances are not permitted, and event masters of ceremonies and speeches must also wear face shields or masks when speaking on stage.

Said Ms Tan: “STB … takes a serious view of any breaches of safe management measures within the hotel premises … Strict enforcement measures will be taken against errant companies or individuals, which may include fines, temporary closure and full prosecution scope of the law “.

One Degree 15 Marina Acting General Manager Jonathan Sit said that prior to any wedding, his operations team will brief the couple and wedding coordinators on necessary measures and review the schedule to ensure there are no games, chants or screaming.

“In the event of violations during the wedding, our staff and managers will immediately tell the guests and even the bride and groom to stay in their seats,” he said.

Mr. Sit did not say whether the club had done this during Mr. Lim’s wedding reception, and did not directly address inquiries about the alleged infractions.

CHALLENGES

He added: “As the operator of the headquarters, we share the same challenges that government-appointed social distancing officers across the island face every day to do their job, but we will continue to implement all of these measures that we have already implemented.”

The Straits Times reported Monday that One Degree 15 Marina was one of 10 hotels and hostels that were fined for violating safe management measures.

Mr. Lim, Fly Entertainment, who manages several of the wedding attendees, and other guests contacted by TNP, did not respond to inquiries as of press time.
