Two Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) hotels were barred from accepting new reservations for a month after they failed to comply with secure management measures and allowed gatherings of 15 or more people.
The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said yesterday that Beach Villas and Equarius Hotel received instructions to suspend reservations from today until January 21.
Hotels will still be able to fulfill existing reservations.
Investigations found that at least 15 people had gathered at a two-story villa in Beach Villas on October 10.
The hotel did not take steps to assess the group when they entered and did not implement SafeEntry to ensure they signed up for contact tracing.
Meanwhile, Equarius Hotel could not avoid a gathering of 16 people in one of its rooms on November 17.
The hotel also did not deploy personnel at the entry points to ensure that the 16 people had their temperatures taken and checked in with SafeEntry.
STB said more investigations are being conducted on the hotels and the people at the two meetings and that enforcement action can be taken.
Those found guilty of violating Covid-19 regulations can be fined up to $ 10,000, imprisoned for up to six months, or both.
The New Paper previously reported on two similar meetings at RWS that were being investigated by authorities.
In the first case, a group of at least 10 people, mostly women, were seen drinking and dining together in a hotel suite. The alleged party was said to have occurred on October 10.
In the second incident, videos of a group of at least six women and one man were uploaded to social media on November 15, when they allegedly held a party to celebrate the 33rd week of pregnancy for one of the women.
STB said that to date, 10 hotels and hostels have been fined for violating safe management measures. Following an increase in such violations and in view of the upcoming holiday season, additional measures were introduced for hotels on 1 December.
This includes the need to obtain documented acknowledgment from guests that they have been informed of group size limits and to ensure that all visitors to a room are pre-registered.
