Liverpool are considering selling Mohamed Salah, who is unhappy at Anfield, according to his former international teammate Mohamed Aboutrika.
The Reds forward, who has scored 13 Premier League goals in 13 appearances this season recently revealed that he was “very disappointed” failing to hand over the captaincy against FC Midtjylland.
Virgil van Dijk, Jordan Henderson and James Milner were out of the Champions League game. It meant that Salah thought he would get the captain’s armband.
However, the 28-year-old was overlooked and local star Trent Alexander-Arnold was named captain.
Aboutrika says the former Roma was unhappy with that particular decision by Klopp. Although there are apparently other reasons why he’s restless at Anfield.
“I called Salah about his situation in Liverpool and he is upset, but that would never affect his performance on the pitch,” Aboutrika said. beIN Sports through Goal.
“I know Salah is not happy in Liverpool. He told me the reasons why he is not happy, but they are secret and I cannot talk about it in public. One of the reasons Salah was furious was that he was not the captain against Midtjylland. “
Salah rested and dropped to the bench for Liverpool’s game at Crystal Palace on Saturday. However, the Egyptian forward came off the bench and scored a double in a 7-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Liverpool to collect?
Now Aboutrika believes Liverpool are ready to cash in on Salah with the money men well aware of the prolific forward’s unhappiness.
In the same interview with Spanish outlet AS (via The subway), the Egyptian did reveal his admiration for Real Madrid and Barcelona. And Aboutrika hopes her friend will move to one of the Spanish giants.
“If Salah were a Real Madrid or Barcelona player and played at the same level as Liverpool, he would have won the Ballon d’Or. It is normal for a Spanish newspaper to ask Salah about Real Madrid and Barcelona,” added Aboutrika.
“In my opinion Liverpool are considering selling Salah for financial reasons.
“I have no influence over Salah’s decisions. He’s my friend and brother, and he’s smart enough to know what’s best for him. “
