The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has taken enforcement action against a restaurant along Killiney Road for failing to keep its premises clean.

Stomper Kumar He said he visited Royal Prata & Curries at 65 Killiney Road with some colleagues on Monday afternoon (December 14).

He recounted: “We went there and ordered takeout.

“When my colleague was about to finish his meal, we found a cockroach in his curry.

“We returned to the restaurant to provide feedback to the manager. The manager was unavailable, but one of the staff came out and told us to remove the photos we had taken as it would affect the reputation of the restaurant.

“We did not delete the photos and we told him that we would file a complaint with the SFA. He apologized and told us that the money would be returned but that nothing more can be done.

Kumar’s colleague reported the incident to the SFA the same day.

In response to an inquiry from Stomp, SFA said it inspected the food establishment upon receiving comments.

“There was no evidence of cockroach infestation within the facility at the point of inspection,” SFA added.

“However, we have taken enforcement action against the food establishment for failing to keep the facilities clean.

“Food safety is a joint responsibility.

“While the SFA establishes and enforces regulatory measures, food operators must play their role by adhering to good food preparation and hygiene practices.”

Members of the public who come across a potentially errant food operator should report it to the SFA via their online comment form. As part of the investigation and evidence gathering, SFA may engage the feedback provider for further details.

“The SFA will not hesitate to take enforcement action against errant food operators if we have obtained sufficient evidence,” the agency said.
