SINGAPORE: The Housing and Development Board (HDB) plans to offer around 17,000 built-to-order (BTO) flats in 2021, similar to this year’s number, National Development Minister Desmond Lee said on Monday (December 21) .
A “good mix” of housing will be available on immature farms like Bukit Batok and Woodlands, as well as mature farms like Bidadari in Toa Payoh and Ulu Pandan in Queenstown, he said in a Facebook post.
However, he said that given the economic uncertainty due to COVID-19, HDB will closely monitor the housing market and calibrate supply if necessary.

Upcoming public housing developments will incorporate some features under the new “Design for Life” roadmap released by HDB this year, Lee said.
“Homeowners can expect features that will help make our cities and farms more livable, efficient, sustainable, and safe.
“For example, many of these new properties will provide features such as smart lighting, smart pneumatic waste transport systems and EV-ready parking lots.”
Green will also be included in these HDB developments, the minister said.

“When developing the house plans, HDB engaged and received feedback from various partners, including nature groups, to try to strike a balance between conservation and development needs,” said Lee.
