Gary Neville compared Scott McTominay to Paul Scholes and Roy Keane after his quick double for Manchester United against Leeds United.
In the first Premier League meeting between the two storied rivals since February 2004, the Scottish international found the net twice in the opening three minutes to stun Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
The first was an effort driven into the bottom corner from outside the box, which left Illan Meslier unhappy, before a run from midfield for his second of the game.
Those efforts caught the attention of Neville, who suggested that McTominay had “become” the two legendary midfielders mentioned above.

“McTominay has turned into Paul Scholes and Roy Keane in the first three minutes,” he said in the Sky Sports commentary.
“He’s moving forward, I’m not sure if that’s in the tactic or if he just felt like it, but he left and Martial came in and saw him run and left.
“His first touch is brilliant, his second is sublime. We thought United would fight back and attack quickly, but we didn’t think the holding midfielder would be at the end. What a start.”
United came to the clash with Leeds seeking their second Premier League win at Old Trafford this season, following a troubled start to the season.
The win against the Whites would take United to fourth place in the standings, five points behind league leaders Liverpool, one game short.
The hot run at the national level has provided a positive boost for the club after the disappointing exit from the Champions League.
