Singapore – A leaking pipe caused a large pool of water to form in Basement 1 of Jewel Changi Airport on Friday (December 18).

Videos circulating on social media and WhatsApp Messenger show water pouring out of the roof outside the Owndays eyewear store.

A member of staff from the store next door can be seen sweeping the water from the entrance.

The video was shared on various groups and Facebook pages, including All Singapore Stuff, where it had more than 200 reactions and almost 200 shares.

It posted with the caption: “Hey glamping at Jewel comes with free outdoor shower too? Leaks out of Owndays. “

According to a report by asiaone.com, a Jewel Changi airport spokesperson said there was a leak in the water pipe in basement 1 at around 11.15am and the problem was resolved immediately.

“Affected tenants suffered from discomfort for approximately 30 minutes before normal operations resumed. There was no other disruption in operations, ”the spokesperson said.

Those who watched the video joked about the pipe leak that mimics Jewel Changi’s famous HSBC Rain Vortex, the tallest indoor waterfall in the world.

Others noted that this was not the first time a water leak had been seen in the airport’s mega commercial building.

Shortly after the Jewel Changi Airport opened in April last year, faulty sprinklers leaked water several times. / ITGS
