A pipe leak causes water to gush from the ceiling at Jewel Changi Airport, Singapore News

Jewel Changi Airport is known for its indoor Rain Vortex waterfall, but has some of the ‘rain’ spilled to other parts of the building?

A clip circulating on Facebook showed water gushing from the ceiling outside the Owndays eyewear store located in Basement 1, forming a large puddle on the floor.

An employee from the store next door was also seen sweeping the water from her driveway.

A woman told 8World that she had to make a detour through the area when she and her family went for lunch at Jewel Changi Airport on Friday (December 18).

It wasn’t crowded at the time, he said, but the 20 or so people there seemed unfazed at the sight. In the photos he shared, a man climbed a tall metal ladder and appeared to be inspecting the ceiling.

A Jewel Changi Airport spokesperson told AsiaOne that there was a leak in the water pipe in Basement 1 at around 11.15am, and that the problem was resolved immediately.

“Affected tenants were disturbed for approximately 30 minutes before normal operations resumed. There was no other interruption in operations.”

Shortly after the Jewel Changi Airport opened last April, faulty sprinklers also caused “water leaks” there on several occasions.
