SINGAPORE: Government agencies will intensify compliance checks for safe COVID-19 management measures at food and beverage outlets (F&B) starting this weekend, the ministry said on Friday (December 18). of Sustainability and Environment (MSE).
The increased number of inspections, to be carried out over the next few weeks, is intended to ensure compliance with safe management measures during the festive season.

“While we recognize that many may wish to meet family and friends during the holiday period or visit popular areas like Orchard Road, food and beverage outlets and the public must continue to take safe management measures seriously as dining out it is an activity that involves considerable risks.
“Strong enforcement action will be taken if violations are found,” MSE said.
The ministry also reminded food and beverage outlets and sponsors that the current five-person group size limit will apply until Phase 3 of Singapore’s reopening goes into effect on December 28, when Social gatherings of up to 8 people are allowed in public.
Under the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulation of 2020, social gatherings in groups of more than five outside of an individual’s residence are prohibited in Phase 2.
Restaurants and eateries are still prohibited from accepting reservations from groups of more than five people, even if those groups are divided into several tables. Intermixing tables is not allowed.
Alcohol should not be served or consumed in the A&B facilities after 10:30 p.m.

MSE said that COVID-19 remains a “serious threat” and that all people must remain vigilant even during the festive period.
“The Government will not hesitate to crack down on the operators and individuals who treat safe management measures with blatant indifference.
“Wandering operators and individuals will face fines, temporary closure and prosecution to the full extent of the law.”
