BEIJING: China said on Monday (December 14) that the European Union should stop making “irresponsible remarks” after it called for the release of all those arrested for reporting in China in a statement about a detained Chinese national working for Bloomberg News. .

China’s Foreign Ministry said on Friday that authorities detained Haze Fan, who works for Bloomberg’s Beijing office, on suspicion of endangering national security.

The European Union asked the authorities to grant Fan “medical assistance if he needs it, immediate access to a lawyer of his choice and contacts with his family.” He also called for the immediate release of all those detained in China in connection with his reports.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told a daily press conference in Beijing that Fan’s legal rights and interests were guaranteed.
