Soaked in 1 minute? Singaporeans are not impressed by the paper straw of the Milo packet drink, Singapore News

More companies have been eliminating plastic straws in the interest of the environment. For some Singaporeans, however, having to use a paper alternative with their Milo packaged drinks was the last straw.

Milo had launched paper straws for its beverage packages here in February, on the heels of similar initiatives in neighboring Indonesia and Malaysia. But it seems that Singaporeans are not very happy, at least going through the reception in a Reddit post on December 8.

Sharing a picture of the drink and its new implement, one Reddit user seemed excited about the change, writing: “Milo’s packages now have paper straws!”

But the post, which garnered more than 1,400 upvotes in less than a day, sparked a series of complaints.

Among the most common are complaints that the straws bend and get soggy relatively quickly. Some even claimed that the paper affected the taste of the drink.
