A large screw pierces the rim of the man’s motorcycle along the TPE, a month after he paid $ 650 to change it

A man was excited for smoother, faster rides on his motorcycle after he paid $ 650 for a new rear tire in early November.

But his smooth ride was interrupted when he heard a loud ‘bang’ and what he described as ‘popping sounds’ as he traveled down the Tampines Expressway (TPE).

Turns out he got on a bolt and got his new tire flat.

The man who wanted to be known as Stomper Arikamer, said the incident occurred on Monday (December 7) at 7.45 am.

The photos he sent show a large screw embedded in the rear tire of Arikamer’s motorcycle.

“I was happily driving down the TPE towards Changi just before Lorong Halus left when suddenly I heard a loud bang,” Arikamer said.

“Then there were continuous banging noises and the ride got bumpy.

“Fortunately, the tire did not break and I was able to travel about 500m to the nearest bridge.

“I pulled over to the side just under the bridge and saw a huge screw in my rear tire.

“I’m so unlucky! I just changed my rear tire a month ago and paid $ 650 for that new tire to fit my Harley Davidson Sportster model perfectly.”

Arikamer added that he quickly called a towing service and towed his motorcycle to a repair shop in Kaki Bukit.

“In the end, I had to change my new $ 650 tire because it was too dangerous for me to just drop it. I spent another $ 500 for the new tire,” he said.

“I was so mad at first because it’s a lot of money. But I’m also relieved that I wasn’t injured.

“I just wanted to remind other motorcyclists to be careful when driving on the roads, especially the highways.

“There may be screws or other obstacles in your way, so avoid them.”
