Man United suffer double blow against West Ham

REUTERS: Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial were substituted in Saturday’s 3-1 win over West Ham United due to muscle injuries.

Uruguayan forward Cavani, who scored twice as a substitute against Southampton last weekend, was operating as a center forward against West Ham but did not leave for the second half at London Stadium.

French striker Martial was forced to leave the pitch in the 62nd minute and was replaced by Juan Mata.

Solskjaer confirmed that both forwards will undergo scans ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League meeting with RB Leipzig, and United need a draw to qualify for the round of 16.

“It’s unfortunate … sometimes you have muscle injuries. We lost Anthony and Edinson,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports. “There’s already a game on Tuesday. But it will probably be (like that) this season.

“Some games we have to do without players and I’m glad we have the substitutions we have.”

After Tomas Soucek put West Ham ahead, goals from Paul Pogba, Mason Greenwood and substitute Marcus Rashford helped United to their fifth straight away win in the league this season.
