A car burst into flames in a multi-story parking lot at Block 638 Punggol Drive on Wednesday (December 2).

Stompers Ronnie Y Rohaizat shared photos and videos of the incident, showing the car engulfed in flames and Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) officers at the scene.

In the video, a fire alarm can be heard blaring as residents of the area gather downstairs to see what happened.

Ronnie shared that he was home when he heard a loud siren and noticed that his neighbors were coming out of their apartments.

“When I heard the siren, I looked out the window and saw thick smoke rising into the sky,” Ronnie said.

“A lot of people started to leave their houses and some even climbed the stairs for safety reasons.

“I felt like I had to see what was going on, so I walked to the parking lot and saw a couple standing near a burning car.

“Turns out it was his car on fire. I told them to stay away from the car and not to get too close in case it exploded.

“If I’m not mistaken, the cars near the fire weren’t affected as the SCDF officers arrived quite quickly and put out the fire. Fortunately, no one was injured.”

In response to an inquiry from Stomp, SCDF said they were alerted to the crash at 10:25 p.m.

“The fire involved the engine compartment of a car on the third floor of a multi-story parking lot,” the spokesperson added.

“SCDF extinguished the fire with a jet of water and two backpacks of compressed air foam.”

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
