SINGAPORE – A 38-year-old woman was charged on Thursday (December 3) for her alleged role in the death of her ex-boyfriend.

Alverna Cher Sheue Pin, who appeared in court via video link, faces a wrongful death charge that does not amount to murder.

On Thursday, Cher told the court that she was a single mother of two daughters and the sole breadwinner for her family, which included her parents.

Cher, funeral director for City Funeral Services, asked to make three phone calls: one to her family, one to get a friend to pass on money, and the last to help her hire an attorney.

The district judge said the investigating officer would help notify Cher’s family and make arrangements regarding her family’s well-being.

The body of Cher’s ex-boyfriend, 32, was found on May 16 around 5.30 pm in a parking lot on Bedok Reservoir Road, according to a police statement on Wednesday (De 2).
