UK’s Johnson Praises ‘Fantastic’ Vaccine Licensing News

LONDON: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said it was “fantastic” that the country’s drug regulator had formally authorized the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, a move he said would get the economy moving again.

“It is fantastic that the MHRA has formally authorized the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine for COVID-19,” he said on Twitter. “The vaccine will start to be available across the UK from next week.

“It is the protection of vaccines that will finally allow us to get our lives back and get the economy moving again.”

England’s chief medical officer Chris Whitty said it would take until spring to fully vaccinate vulnerable populations who want to receive the vaccine.
