SINGAPORE – Two new coronavirus cases were confirmed at noon on Wednesday (Dec. 2), bringing Singapore’s total to 58.230.

Both are imported cases that were placed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore.

No new cases were announced in the community and within workers’ bedrooms.

On Tuesday, the Health Ministry said that a cleaner working in the transit area of ​​Terminal 3 at Changi Airport tested positive for Covid-19.

The patient was the only community case reported on Tuesday.

She is 66 years old and lives in Yishun with her husband, who is unemployed, the Health Ministry said.

She tested positive on Monday and was asymptomatic when tested. His infection was detected through the biweekly Routine Health Ministry Routine Tests (RRT) of frontline workers.

The patient was taken to the hospital after her test came back positive.

His serological test was negative, likely indicating a current infection, the ministry said.

The Health Ministry added that he wears personal protective equipment at work, including a mask, face shield, gloves and a gown, and that the swabs he previously made as part of the TRS were negative.

Epidemiological investigations are ongoing. All of their identified close contacts, including their family members and coworkers, have been isolated and quarantined, and will be assessed at the beginning and end of their quarantine periods.

The other case transmitted locally on Tuesday was a patient from a foreign workers’ dormitory, the first such case after 20 consecutive days without one.

The patient was detected through proactive surveillance, the Health Ministry said. All his close contacts in the bedroom and his workplace have been quarantined.

It was among 10 new coronavirus cases reported Tuesday.

The remaining eight patients on Tuesday were imported. They consisted of five work permit holders from Indonesia and Myanmar, a work pass holder from Japan, a special pass holder from Indonesia, and a one-year-old child from Russia holding a visit pass from Long duration.

All were put on notice to stay home in special facilities upon arrival in Singapore.

Seven of the eight were asymptomatic and tested positive while being notified.

The special pass holder, a 43-year-old Indonesian man, experienced an onset of symptoms on Sunday and tested positive on Monday.

On Tuesday, the Health Ministry also added two food outlets at Changi Airport Terminal 3, Kopitiam and Heavenly Wang, to the list of places visited by Covid-19 patients when they were still infectious.

The ministry provides the list of places that infectious Covid-19 patients visited for at least 30 minutes and the hours they visited so that people who were in those places at the same time closely monitor their health for two weeks starting from the date of your visit. .

The Health Ministry has said that close contacts would have been notified and that it is not necessary to avoid these places as they would have been cleaned up if necessary.

With five cases discharged Tuesday, 58,124 patients have made a full recovery from the disease.

The number of unrelated cases in the community remains low, with a total of five in the last week.

A total of 29 patients remained in the hospital Tuesday, none in intensive care, while 31 recovered at community facilities.

Singapore has had 29 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive died from other causes.
