SINGAPORE: A woman who was to plead guilty to one count of mischief for mixing her bodily fluids with food intended for others, challenged the charge on Wednesday (December 2).

Philippine Canares Rowena Ola, 43, is accused of mixing her urine and menstrual blood in food destined for the occupants of a Sengkang flat in December 2018.

Wednesday was the second time he went to court to plead guilty, but his lawyer Kalaithasan Karuppaya said his client was contesting the charge.

“She is disputing that such a thing happened. She never committed this crime,” he said.

In questioning by the judge, the prosecutor said that the food was consumed and there was no DNA evidence in this case.

“Currently, can you tell what is the evidentiary trail that leads to the discovery of the food?” asked District Judge Marvin Bay.

Deputy Prosecutor Keith Jieren Thirumaran replied: “Briefly, the evidence is that the defendant had admitted in various statements that she had done so, and there are also several communications between the defendant and the defendant’s boyfriend at the time, where she said yes .. “

“The items were consumed … therefore, there is no residue for the test,” the judge said. “Are there any leftovers?”

“There was nothing available for testing,” Thirumaran said, adding that some time had passed by the time the crime was discovered.

The judge referred the case to a pre-trial conference next month. If convicted of committing a crime, she could be imprisoned for up to one year, fined, or both.
