SINGAPORE – Three mosques that were visited by Covid-19 positive patients will be closed for cleaning and disinfection on Wednesday (December 2).

They are: Ahmad Mosque in Pasir Panjang, Temenggong Daeng Ibrahim Mosque in Harbourfront and En-Naeem Mosque in Hougang.

Reservations for congregational prayer in mosques will be canceled, the Singapore Islamic Religious Council (Muis) said in a statement on Facebook.

“The affected mosques are undergoing a thorough cleaning and disinfection, with a tentative reopening on Thursday, December 3, pending inspection and confirmation by the relevant agencies,” Muis added.

The religious council added that the Health Ministry is actively conducting contact tracing and all parishioners who have been identified as close contacts of those who tested positive will be contacted for “necessary follow-up actions.”

“This is also a timely reminder of the importance of using TraceTogether when visiting mosques, so that anyone who has had a possible exposure to an infected person can be quickly identified and located,” Muis said.
